Admin by Request Service Level Agreement
Agreement Purpose This Service Level Agreement has been written for California Baptist University User Services Department. The Agreement clearly defines the service levels that the HelpDesk will deliver to its faculty and staff and describes the processes performed when a local administrator (admin) request is submitted to the HelpDesk. Agreement Parties California Baptist University User Services Jorge J. Mendieta, Director of User Services and Service Level Agreement Manager Christopher Morgan, Assistant Director of User Services and Service Level Agreement Manager California Baptist University faculty and staff (the customers). Definitions Admin by Request (ABR) is an application that runs on the local computer that allows staff and faculty to request temporary “Admin Rights.” This allows staff and faculty to have local admin rights to install or change settings on their assigned CBU computer on an “as needed” basis. Mac Spotlight Search
Mac Spotlight Search: Tips to Get Faster Results If you're a Mac user, you probably use Spotlight Search to find files, launch apps, and search the web. While Spotlight is a powerful tool, sometimes it can take a while to get the results you need. Here are some tips to help you get faster results from Spotlight. Keep Your Index Up-to-Date Spotlight works by indexing the contents of your Mac's hard drive. If your index is out of date, Spotlight won't be able to find the files you're looking for. To make sure your index is up-to-date, follow these steps: Click the Apple menu in the top-left corner of your screen. Select "System Preferences." Click "Spotlight." Click the "Privacy" tab. Drag your hard drive icon from the desktop to the list of locations that Spotlight should exclude from searches. Wait a few minutes, then remove your hard drive from the list. This will force Spotlight to re-index your hard drive, which should make searches faster. Use Search Operators Spotlight supports a variety of search operators that can help you narrow down your search results. Here are a few examples: Use "kind:" to search for a specific type of file (e.g. "kind:pdf" to find all PDF files). Use "date:" to search for files created or modified on a specific date (e.g. "date:yesterday" to find files modified yesterday). Use "name:" to search for files with a specific name (e.g. "name:report" to find all files with "report" in the name). You can find a full list of search operators by typing "help" into the Spotlight search bar. Customize Your Search Results By default, Spotlight shows you a list of files and apps that match your search query. However, you can customize your search results to show more information. Here's how: Click the Apple menu in the top-left corner of your screen. Select "System Preferences." Click "Spotlight." Click the "Search Results" tab. Check the boxes next to the types of results you want to see (e.g. "Documents," "Folders," "Music," etc.). This will make it easier to find the files you're looking for. Conclusion By following these tips, you can get faster and more accurate results from Spotlight. Whether you're searching for a specific file or launching an app, Spotlight can help you get there faster.
