Connecting to CBU Wifi
Purpose
California Baptist University provides WiFi to our students, faculty, staff and guests. This article describes how to connect to CBU WiFi depending on your role.
Using WIFI
Wireless internet is available at the California Baptist University Main Campus and throughout the all our remote locations.
What's Available
WiFi is available for Staff, Faculty, Students, and Guests. There are three different networks for three different purposes:
- CBU-Secure = This network is the most secure and should be the primary network for students, staff and faculty.
- CBU-Lancers = This network is intended for non-computer internet devices such as gaming consoles, smart TVs, etc. where it may be difficult to use a login.
- CBU-Guest = This network is for Guests and requires acceptance of the "Acceptable Use Policy" to use the WiFi on campus.
How to Access Each WiFi Network
Below are specific network login instructions for each available network. For the Lancers & Guest Networks, scroll to the bottom of the article.
1. CBU-SECURE
CBU-SECURE is the preferred network at California Baptist University. This connection is the most secure, along with being the most stable and speed efficient.
Connection instructions vary slightly by device type, so we have listed out several different device type instructions.
Account Name: The account name is your ID@calbaptist.edu or for staff/faculty it is your 8 character username@calbaptist.edu
Password: The password is the same password used for InsideCBU, Blackboard, Lancermail, etc.
Windows Devices
Click on the WiFi icon in the lower right corner of the screen (by the clock) and select CBU-Secure to connect. Then enter your credentials (as stated above) and select "Ok" to continue.

Click "Connect" to accept the certificate.

MAC OS Devices
Click on the WiFi icon in the upper right corner by the clock and select the CBU-Secure WiFi. Then insert your credentials as listed above and select "OK".

Click Continue to accept Certificate.

Enter user’s local username and password for the computer (if you are a student, this is not CBU provided).

CHROME OS (and other similar devices)
If you’re using a Chromebook, Chromebox, or Pixel Device; your device will require additional settings to connect to the CBU-SECURE network. See below for these settings:

Windows Devices Issued to Staff & Faculty
Select CBU-SECURE from the wireless SSID options.
Select Use my Windows User Account.

This will fill in user credentials. Select OK.
Select Connect to accept wireless Certificate

You will now be connected to CBU-SECURE
CBU issued Mac (CBU Issued Device)
Select CBU-SECURE from the wireless SSID options.
Type cbu\username and password to account. Then select Join.
Select Continue to accept the wireless certificate.

Enter local User Name and Password to add the wireless certificate to Mac. Select Update Settings.
Note: Your local username and password is typically what you use to login to your Mac.
You will now be connected to CBU-SECURE.
2. CBU-LANCERS
CBU-Lancers is intended for non-computer internet devices such as gaming consoles, smart TVs, etc.

3. CBU-GUEST
All CBU guests can use the temporary CBU-GUEST while visiting the campus when they Accept the "Acceptable Use Policy".
