I am an Adjunct who is not teaching - what happens to my Zoom access?
You will retain your Zoom account with CBU as long as you remain an active employee. All data, such as recordings and scheduled meetings, is retained in the account. When you are registered to teach a course again, Information Technology Services automatically elevates your access from Basic to Licensed.
What is the difference between Licensed and Basic access?
Basic access is limited to a meeting length of 40 minutes with 300 or more participants, however 1-1 meetings can last longer than 40 minutes. Basic users also do not have access to record to the cloud, or other add on features such as large meetings or webinars.
If you have changed status from Licensed to Basic, all prior cloud recordings are retained.
I am a Staff member. Can I use Zoom?
Staff members are provided with access to the Cisco WebEx suite for calling, chat, and video meeting needs. The University only holds a limited number of licenses for Zoom, and because of this limit, licenses are currently reserved for Faculty members.
Exceptions may be made by request to helpdesk@calbaptist.edu and are evaluated on a case by case basis.
I am a student. Do I need a Zoom account to join my class?
No. Students are not provided with Zoom accounts, as participants do not need an account in order to join a meeting.
Recently, I was contacted by Information Technology Services regarding an upcoming change to my personal Zoom account. What does this mean?
You received this notice because you previously signed up for a privately owned (non-CBU) Zoom account using your Cal Baptist email address. Moving forward, ITS will manage all Zoom accounts using @calbaptist.edu login addresses, in order to provide improved account servicing and security.
Starting Thursday, July 28th, all Faculty Zoom accounts will be managed by ITS. You will use your Cal Baptist Username and password to login to your Zoom account.
Affected users will get an email notification from Zoom with subject line: Zoom account invitation. Please approve the account join request to regain access to your Zoom account.
Can I choose to keep my personal account?
Yes! However, you cannot use your username@calbaptist.edu email address to login. You will need to change your login email for your personal zoom account to a personal email address.
I paid personally for a Pro Zoom license for my personal account. Will I have the same access under CBU’s management?
Account eligibility is determined simply by your role at CBU, please see the sections above to determine your access type. If you have paid personally for a Pro Zoom license, Zoom will refund you the remaining balance on your account.
Ex 1: I am a full time faculty member, and I had paid personally for a Pro Zoom license.
Outcome: You will still have a full license for Zoom through CBU. Zoom will refund you the remaining balance on your personal account.
Ex 2: I am an adjunct faculty member, and I had paid personally for a Pro Zoom license.
Outcome: You will receive a basic or full Zoom license from CBU depending your current teaching status (see FAQ section above regarding adjunct access). Zoom will refund you the remaining balance on your personal account.
Ex 3: I am a staff member, and I had paid personally for a Pro Zoom license.
Outcome: You will keep your personal account, and will be prompted by Zoom to change your login email address to a personal email. If you need a CBU provided account for you work, please see the section above regarding staff access and instructions to make a request.
I received an “Your email domain has been claimed” message from Zoom. What do I do?
You received this notice because you currently are an owner of a Zoom account that is using your Cal Baptist email address and were never approved for a license from CBU ITS. These users are typically non-faculty users such as staff or students. To regain access to your Zoom account please change your sign-in email to a non-CBU one.
As part of the Zoom licensing policy, licenses are only granted to active faculty and select staff. If you are a staff member and require a Zoom licensed account for your job duties please submit a request to helpdesk@calbaptist.edu.
